Location: Islands of the Bahamas
The long-term goal of this research is to better understand coastal processes in the tropical carbonate islands of the Bahamian archipelago. We wish to develop methods to remotely map an integrated coastal zone of plant and marine communities, looking at the environments above and below the water. This survey work can help us determine the environmental health of the coastal zone, as well as develop “best practices” in coastal land use to protect and preserve the unique ecology of the islands.
