MA Division of Marine Fisheries
Coastal Lobster Project

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries Coastal Lobster

Project currently has three job vacancies. Two of them are seasonal

contract positions and one is a regular state position. They are looking

for qualified recent graduates or current graduate students.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This position involves a lot of field work
including diving, so the applicant must be a
certified diver, preferably with a fair amount
of experience diving in cold water, low
visibility, and conducting underwater
research. There is a website that describes the
project the person would be working on
( posted below the job
announcement). This is a full time position with
benefits funded for about 1 ½ more years unless
we receive more funding to extend the research.

Position 1

Position 1 Announcement

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

These two positions are seasonal fisheries technicians positions that involve working with

the coastal lobster project. The two positions will involve a lot of time on commercial fishing

vessels sampling lobsters and bycatch, and working on a ventless trap program designed to

sample lobsters at different depths and habitat types. These techs will also help out on the

above-stated project as topside dive tenders, so small vessel handling experience would be great.

Position 3

The deadline for these openings is March 23, 2006 (with a May 1st, if not earlier, starting date).
